Text Box: Transportation
  Australia Wide

I have spent hundreds of days traveling around Australia by as many forms of transport as possible. I personally really enjoy country trains as it is such a relaxing means of transport.

Here are a number of links for transport provides in Australia.

I highly recommend Great Southern Railways, the provider of the legendary Ghan, Overland and Indian Pacific. This is truly the most magnificent way to see Australia on ground level. Click icons for links.

-The Indian Pacific gives you two oceans on one of the world's longest and greatest train journeys. But most of your cruising will be across the vast continent of Australia. From the spectacular Blue Mountains to the treeless plains of The Nullarbor, where the train travels the world's longest straight stretch of railway track (478 kilometers'), see unique landscapes unfold and spot a fascinating array of wildlife from the comfort of the lounge or your cabin.

-The Ghan. It’s an odd name for a train but in Australian history it is a living legend. The legend has soared to new heights with the extension of The Ghan journey to Darwin. When The Ghan first departed Adelaide for Alice Springs, it was always intended that it would one day travel through to Darwin. More than 70 years on, that dream has become reality.

-The Overland commenced service in 1887, pioneering intercapital rail travel between Melbourne and Adelaide. The century old name came from the term "Overlander", an adventurer who had traveled across the country. In recognition of its history, The Overland’s emblem is the Kookaburra, symbolic of a new day and new beginnings

Looking for a comfortable, leisurely and safe way to see some of the best NSW has to offer? CountryLink's train and coach network covers thousands of kilometers across our diverse state, and beyond, taking you from the outback to the beach, from tropical rainforests to the snow.

V/Line Passenger Pty Ltd ("V/Line") is Victoria's largest regional passenger transport operator with a long history of serving its communities through rail and coach services.

The CityRail network offers passengers one of the most cost effective, reliable and convenient ways to travel around Sydney and beyond

Commuter train provider in Adelaide South Australia.

Comfort, flexibility and a great social atmosphere have made The Sunlander one of Australia’s great journeys and a firm favourite with travelers between Brisbane and Cairns.

Travelling between Brisbane and Cairns twice a week and Brisbane and Rockhampton six times a week in each direction, the Tilt Train is a comfortable and convenient way to access the many tourist destinations of Queensland.
